Wilson Youth Basketball Association was formed in the summer of 2008 by long-time community youth basketball coaches interested in creating a stronger Wilson area youth basketball program.

The men’s and women’s coaching staff of Wilson High School provides clinics for our coaches so that our program emphasizes fundamentals and develops players with the potential to play basketball in high school and beyond. Teams in our program will have the opportunity to play highly competitive basketball in the Three Rivers Youth Basketball League, which includes nearly 20 other youth basketball organizations from the larger Clackamas County schools as well as Tigard, Tualatin, Lincoln and Grant.

Our Association also works closely with Portland Parks & Recreation and offers a recreational program for those players who do not want to commit to the time required to play at a competitive level or who need additional time to develop their fundamental skills. For example, many youth may play another sport that is their first priority and may not be able to commit to three practices a week and 25 or more games each season, but they still want to play basketball. Our program offers them this opportunity.

Our Association comprises approximately 30 teams per season with nearly 300 boys and girls participating at various age levels and skill levels.

Our program relies primarily on volunteer coaches and we have a wealth of basketball knowledge and experience in our community to draw from. The Wilson Youth Basketball Association Board of Directors, many of whom coach teams in the program, includes former college and high school players. Collectively, our Board has over 40 years of experience coaching youth basketball. In addition, the Board actively recruits other coaches in the community to join them in the effort to create a consistent and strong basketball program that emphasizes fundamental skills and good sportsmanship. If you are interested in coaching, please check out the Volunteer section of this website.
